Algeria is set to launch a major national initiative to construct public rental housing (LPL) units across all its provinces. The announcement came after an evaluation meeting chaired by the Minister of Housing, Urban Planning, and the City, Mr. Mohamed Tarek Belaribi, at the headquarters of the Mutual Guarantee Fund for Real Estate Promotion.

The meeting included directors from the Housing and Real Estate Management Offices, as well as housing directors from various provinces. According to a statement from the Ministry of Housing, the initiative aligns with the government's commitment to deliver housing projects by Algeria's Independence Day on July 5, 2025.

Minister Belaribi received detailed presentations on the progress of housing programs in different provinces, with a focus on regions experiencing delays. He issued directives to accelerate project completion and the launch of new LPL housing programs. He urged adherence to the timelines established during Ramadan evaluation meetings and cautioned project managers in 11 provinces against failing to meet targets, holding them accountable for unmet commitments. Belaribi also commended provinces that successfully met their obligations as agreed with the ministry.
