Dakar, Senegal – Political commentator Badara Gadiaga has weighed in on several high-profile legal cases in Senegal, including those of Abdou Nguer, Azoura Fall, Arona Niang, and Assane Diouf, during a recent appearance on the 'Jakarlo' program. Gadiaga addressed the case of Azoura Fall, stating that it highlights the limitations of certain declarations, particularly those made in the National Assembly. He referenced a statement directed at Ousmane Sonko, suggesting that young people were mobilized and paid to insult authorities, noting the multiple interpretations such a statement could invite.

Gadiaga also voiced concerns over the erosion of societal values, pointing to a case where an individual confessed to setting fire to a relative's vehicle. "We have people in this country capable of setting fire to vehicles belonging to their parents," he remarked, lamenting the unprecedented nature of such acts. He contrasted this with the political rivalries of the past, noting that even during intense opposition between Abdoulaye Wade and Abdou Diouf, certain boundaries were always respected.

Furthermore, Gadiaga criticized the notion of maintaining radicalism in governance, cautioning against the rejection of contradiction and calling for experts to address the underlying issues. Turning to ongoing legal proceedings, he commended the prosecutor for taking responsibility despite facing significant pressure, particularly in the case of Azoura Fall's arrest. However, he also criticized what he perceives as a double standard in the justice system, comparing the handling of Abdou Nguer's case with that of Arona Niang, and Assane Diouf's with that of a young person named Kaïré, suggesting preferential treatment based on political affiliation.
