Nkongsamba, Cameroon – The city of Nkongsamba, located in Cameroon's Littoral region, commemorated the 53rd edition of the Unity Day with a civil and military parade presided over by Moungo Prefect Yves Bertrand Noël Ndjana. The event saw participation from various civil organizations and political parties represented in parliament, including the ruling Cameroon People's Democratic Movement (RDPC) and the Cameroon Party for National Reconciliation (PCRN).

The military segment of the parade featured a notable display by the Nkongsamba-based Ground-to-Ground Artillery Regiment. Following the parade, Prefect Ndjana presented decorations to several honorees, recognizing their contributions to the community.

However, one notable absence from the celebrations was the Movement for the Renaissance of Cameroon (MRC), a prominent opposition party. While the RDPC and PCRN flags waved among the marchers, the MRC's absence underscored the political divisions that persist despite the Unity Day's intended message of national cohesion.

In a related event in 2022, Unity Day celebrations in Melong saw altercations between RDPC and PCRN militants, highlighting the tensions that can arise even among parties that participate in the national holiday. Meanwhile, earlier this year, approximately twenty PCRN militants defected to the RDPC in the Mayo Tsanaga region, signaling shifting political allegiances and adding another layer of complexity to Cameroon's political landscape.
