LOMÉ—Golfe 2, a municipality within Togo's capital, Lomé, has formalized a partnership agreement with China’s Hebei Province, signaling deepened ties between the West African locality and one of China's key industrial hubs. The accord, signed recently in Lomé, is set to spur collaborations in areas ranging from business culture to sustainable development.

The agreement was inked by Golfe 2 Mayor Konou Noukafou and Lisha Yan, a representative from the Hebei Province Enterprise Cultural Association. Officials say the partnership focuses on decentralized cooperation, with specific initiatives planned across corporate culture, territorial management, and sustainable development. Investment, trade, technology, and communication are also central to the collaboration.

According to the terms, a Chinese advertising firm specializing in light boxes will establish operations in Golfe 2 by the end of May. Hebei Province, known for its robust economy and a consumer market of approximately 80 million people, is expected to support Golfe 2’s developmental objectives. Lisha Yan stated, "Our association includes numerous companies whose expansion aligns with the overall strategy of the Chinese government. Several of these offerings meet the current needs of Golfe 2."

Mayor Noukafou emphasized Golfe 2’s strategic advantages, noting, "Our municipality has ambition and dynamism. Its strategic position makes it a land of exceptional economic opportunities." The partnership follows Togo’s participation in the 9th Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) in 2024, where the two countries signed multiple partnership agreements.
