Lubumbashi, DRC – Two lions have escaped from the Beijing farm, a private zoo owned by General John Numbi, prompting an urgent warning from Lubumbashi Mayor Patrick Kafwimbi. The farm is located approximately 50 kilometers from the city center on the Kasenga road. The public is urged to exercise extreme caution and report any sightings of the animals to local authorities immediately.

"Faced with this worrying situation, the urban authority calls for the utmost vigilance," Mayor Kafwimbi stated in a press release. "Everyone is asked to be cautious and immediately report any suspected presence of these animals to the competent authorities."

Specialized teams have been deployed to locate and capture the escaped lions. Investigations are underway to determine the circumstances surrounding the escape and to prevent any potential dangers. The news has triggered panic among residents of Lubumbashi, as the lions remain at large. Benjin Agri, the 12,000-hectare agro-pastoral farm, offers ecotourism activities and houses a small zoo featuring local species, including lions, reptiles, and antelopes.

The incident raises concerns about safety measures at private animal facilities and the potential threat to public safety. Authorities are working to ensure the swift and safe return of the lions to their enclosure. Residents are advised to stay indoors and avoid rural areas until the situation is resolved.
